Caring for the Community

Caring for the Community

In community action, we weave presence, care, and connection — a living space where the meeting with oneself, with others, and with the world becomes a path of transformation.

We live in a time marked by acceleration, distraction, and increasing social complexity. In this context, many institutions face challenges related to the well-being of their teams, the quality of relationships, and the human sustainability of their practices. At Ser Integral, we want to contribute significantly to responding to these challenges by creating collective spaces for regulation, reflection, and human connection.

Through our action in the community, we bring approaches based on mindfulness, trauma, and human development to different socio-educational contexts—schools, hospitals, associations, NGOs, municipalities, and other public and/or third sector organizations—supporting the development of more conscious, collaborative, creative, and resilient teams.

1. Ser Integral Communities of Practice

Ser Integral communities of practice are spaces for meeting, pausing, personal inquiry, and collective learning. They are inspired by different traditions and approaches that recognize the importance of presence, the body, and the relational dimension in human development. Among these influences are:

  • mindfulness practices (Jon Kabat-Zinn, Saki Santorelli, Mark Williams, among others)
  • approaches to nervous system regulation, somatic experience, and polyvagal theory (Peter Levine, Stephan Porges, and Deb Dana)
  • Circles of trust (Parker Palmer)
  • Communities of practice (Etienne Wenger and Paulo Freire)

At this intersection of influences, we seek to create safe spaces where people can pause, listen, and reflect together, cultivating greater awareness of themselves, others, and the context in which they live and work. We believe that when learning takes place in community—supported by presence, dialogue, and trust—it becomes possible to develop more humane, conscious, creative, and collaborative ways of being and acting in the world.

2. Public and Third Sector Institutions

Projects developed with public and third sector institutions are designed to be flexible and adapted to the reality of each context. The goal is to support the development of more conscious, humane, and sustainable organizational cultures, capable of caring for the people who care for the community.

Our approach is usually organized into three complementary stages:

  1. Basic mindfulness programs (MBSR; MBCT-L)
Structured programs that support the development of attention, emotional self-regulation, and stress reduction in professional teams.
  2. Communities of practice
Regular ongoing sessions that allow mindfulness to be integrated into the organization's daily routine, strengthening well-being, collaboration, and the quality of relationships.
  3. Mentoring and integration of practices
Support for professionals interested in integrating mindfulness practices into their work context or developing internal initiatives.

This model allows institutions to start the work gradually, assessing the impact and subsequently expanding the practice within the organization.
